Established in 1911, the Alcorta Company initially had its core activity focused on the manufacture of sports weapons and hand tools. Over time, the company developed and ended up working exclusively for the automotive industry, which it has been doing since the 1990s.
In 1997, German group Brockhaus Soehne GmbH acquired a majority stake and we underwent a name change to Alcorta Brockhaus S.A.
In 2005, the Multinational Group MAHLE, who specialise in the manufacture of engine components (pistons, engine parts, filters and valves) with 70 factories and a labour force of nearly 40,000 worldwide – acquired 100% interest of Brockhaus Soehne GmbH.
As a consequence of MAHLE's decision to commission all group forging plants solely for the supply of connecting rods, Alcorta shares were returned to the local owners in 2007, with the company's executive and management team acquiring a significant interest. Following a transition period in 2008, during which new facilities were established in South Africa, Czech Republic and Germany, Alcorta Forging Group emerged in 2009.
